+ or - 130 days

I got word yesterday that I will be leaving August 24th for lovely Paris.  I talked to my host family and the kids start school Sept. 1, so that will give me a week to get acclimated.  Yikes!  So now, the countdown begins and I will have to start the inevitable task of "saving money".  That is never an easy for me, as yesterday I bought my birthday present and my mom fussed at me for not saving the money.  Ugh.  I still have delusional dreams about jumping into a Mary-Kate and Ashley movie, riding on the back of a mysterious french boys Moped and fighting with baguettes in the lawn of the Eiffel Tower.  I am in for a rude, but welcomed awakening.

Facebook Stalking - To The Max

Once again, at work, waiting to get to France.  T minus 5 months and counting.  Spring Break is about to commence and my friends from study abroad get here Friday morning, thank goodness.  As of now, I find myself repeating "Serenity Now" (thank you George Costanza) over and over and over again.  Though my blood pressure isn't boiling like George's, I am not sure if Larry David's technique is helping or not.

However, my other French visa advising source, Malia, has been so great in giving me tips.  Currently, Malia is the au pair for the family I am going to be living with.  She is a saint.  It was crucial that I get in touch with her, because I swear people thought I was going to be sold into some sort of European slave trade.  She told me all about the family and how much she's loved  being with them, giving those worried peace of mind.  She also found me another part time job of tutoring, which will help decrease my poverty levels and give me the necessary funds for those extra glasses of wine after putting the kids to bed.  So weird that I will be forced into a maternal situation, comical and insanely ironic for anyone who knows me.  I foresee lots of wine in my future, is that bad?  However, water is cheaper than wine in most places I've been in Europe, so I am just trying to be "frugal" when ordering a beverage.  "Je voudrais un vin blanc, s'il vous plait."  I already have the order down.

Another attempt at curing my insatiable need for Europe is stalking Facebook pictures.  It doesn't matter who you are, I've probably looked at all your pictures if you have visited Europe and posted albums.  All those albums of dancing and debauchery at Bogie's just don't do it for me anymore, so I have to dive deeper and find assorted travel albums.  I can't tell you how many times I've looked through mine recently.  However (serenity now, serenity now), lovely story, when I rode in the St. Patrick's Day parade, I lost my camera.  Essentially my memory card with all my pictures from Europe, New York this summer, and Santa Fe this Christmas break are gone, the latter two groups not successfully uploaded to any alternative hard drive.  Ugh, I can't think about it without getting upset.  Thank goodness for Facebook.  More later, as I have more searching for Europe pictures on the old FB.
